Death Plane

We slept in and spent a lazy morning in Alaric's room playing TF2, discussing Jennifer's ideas for a "death plane" and still refusing to properly buy groceries.
          Quotes of the day:
"It was a battle against logic itself." - Alaric
"It would be like a donut flying through space." - Jennifer
"God, if I had friends, I'd have the greatest parties ever." - Jennifer
"You should have a cow party, like a cow patty, and invite only cows." - Jennifer

Cincinnati Sting

I spent a few hours grinding toward my 50-hour total at St. Francis House downtown, crammed into a little dishwashing station with two older guys. It was tedious and difficult to move, but at least it's work I'm used to. I need to put up something like 35 hours this month, and the next few weeks are going to be torturous. Later on, I met Jennifer at the airport; we went home and ate Food Wall. And it was good.

Amadeus

I woke up with no recollection (sensation?) of having slept, as if I'd blacked out. Today would be my true last day of work at my last co-op. Happily, it would be a partial day with the aim of training the new co-op and tying up loose ends, but nothing is easy in New England. The air was frigid, and the walk over the bridge from Community College was miserable thanks to a relentless, abrasive wind. As with every previous commute, I'm tired of making this walk and will be glad to call it quits. It was a weird time -- I felt like I had one foot in the figurative grave -- but when I finally got home, I put it out of my mind. There was reefer on the line, and I had to catch up with Nathan and Alaric as quick as I could.

"You're gonna be my new meat bicycle!"

Today, Nathan and I discovered more evidence of the household mouse while playing a tight game of pong (I won narrowly.) We talked for a while longer. Eventually, I retired to play TF2 and Borderlands 2, still taking full advantage of Alaric's gaming rig. I forced myself out of my seat at some point after dark, walked over and fed Jules's cats (they recognize me now!) and came home to smoke again. I laid myself down to talk with Jennifer on the phone, lapsing in concentration and feeling entirely ready for bed.

Alternative Social World

I got up in the early evening and continued with Making a Murderer, taking a break here and there to decorate. The wickedness just keeps unfolding. I spent some time messaging Jennifer, talked to Nathan briefly as he returned from vacation, then finished off Making a Murderer. It was fully worth it, even more than Narcos. This one makes you feel it. That's two shows complete in the last week.

Righteous Law

I watched Montreal humiliate Boston in the Winter Classic, listened to music and got a pile of minor tasks finished. I went over to Jules's to feed the cats, and the walk went quicker today on account of the snow all melting. When I came back, I started the documentary series Making a Murderer and was instantly hooked. This is dark stuff; from the beginning it feels insidious, creeping, suffocating. It's also real, at least in the sense that the producers are examining real events through an investigative lens.

Another Fifty Years

New Year's Eve. Most of the Boston birds have flown their coops, but a few friends would be coming by later on. I cleared out my email, registered my Charlie Card to avoid future losses, kept up work on my blog, and decorated the ceiling. Johnny and Peter came over to play pong, sign up for Obamacare, and then e-file our dissolution report for the ballot initiative, which was going nowhere. Johnny brought along a bottle of champagne: the mayor of "BALLATORE". Sabrina, Lauren V, and Laura showed for a brief period, and we all played Up & Down the River before the girls whisked Peter off to their next destination. Kofi, Emily and Lucy joined us for the evening; we played Kings and affixed sticky notes to each other's forehead, but try as I might, the room lacked chemistry. Soccer Physics provided a fun respite, as did a joint-enhanced jaunt to Domino's, but on the whole, it didn't seem like my friends had that great of a time.
          Quotes of the day:
"We're officially out of politics." - Johnny, impersonating Obama
"...for now." - Johnny
"What the hell is Obama gonna do for another 50 years?" - Johnny
