Preparing for my first day of three with Mrs. A's second graders, I shaved with what must be the bluntest razor in existence. At school, the students were very apprehensive of me, though they seemed to enjoy my company. I helped Mrs. A keep the class in order, collected their work, etc. My tasks were not difficult, and the day went by rather quickly. It was a bit like herding cats at times, but the kids' cuteness made it more than worth the trouble. Aside: the students' school computer usernames are their first initial followed by the first four letters of their last name, and one child ended up with the unfortunate "GINGR".
Quotes of the day:
"You always start with the pennies column. That's one of the laws of mathematicians." - Mrs. A
"Did you know that Christmas isn't just about celebrating Jesus' birthday? He also gave his life for us... he would still be alive." - random child to another
"You sense yourself beginning to like it. And you're scared. It's like rape." - Matt, on Ke$ha
