A morning council meeting on Saturday is something no one wants to do. There's a lazy, convivial atmosphere at most of them, and this one was even more so. This was one in a series of meetings in which the council is revamping the old pep band constitution, bringing it up to date and eliminating irregularities. As such, it's a sizable time sink. Post-meeting, we set up for what we've dubbed the 1023 Symposium, a classic toga party. Highlights: Togas; everyone gulping wine out of the penny-flavored Chalice of Champions; beating David at chess; getting beaten by Sean at chess; drunkenness. Extremely late in the party, I went for a cigar walk through the alleys of Back Bay with Emily, followed by a sketchy College Convenience cheeto run.
