Sunday School

Alaric and I met with another realtor, this one from Symphony Properties, to see a couple of apartments. The first, the improbably numbered 420 Massachusetts Avenue, was nicer apartment-wise than what we have now, though the laundry situation was rather undesirable (1 washer and 1 dryer in the basement, shared by the building.) The location was sweet, though; just across from the Mass Ave Orange Line stop and a little way down the street. The second place we saw instantly won a place in my heart: 1023 Tremont, a minute down the street from IV and located in a slightly undesirable neighborhood. It's adjacent to a smoke shop, as well as a moment's walk from "Kennedy Fried Chicken," a curry place, a hairdresser and a bodega. It's the cheapest place we've looked at and the bedrooms are huge. Hopefully we can jump on that one, depending on Sean's input.
We joined the pep band in its trip to TD Garden for the men's shot at the Beanpot title. We all knew the situation was near-hopeless; we were up against the irritatingly good BC. We haven't won a men's Beanpot in 25 years. (The women have fared better, beating the other 3 teams with a total of 16 Beanpot victories over the tournament's history.) This year was not fated to be the game changer. Though the game was momentarily exciting for a few minutes (score 4-3), we lost 6-3 in the end. Alanna and I were called nerds by some BC fans, to which I retorted, "Safety school!" The NU fan section was powerful as usual, with a great chant: "Where's your pope?" At the end of the day, even though we lost, there was still a story everyone could get behind: Harvard defeating BU, an improbable and hilarious loss made even better because 1) we beat them first and 2) their current seniors have never seen a Beanpot win, and just got handed 4th place by lolsports Harvard.
          Quotes of the day:
"I don't know how to play this. I just found it in the stairwell." - Matt T, to people heckling him to play his tuba
"Oh god, it's like a snowy Vietnam!" - Matt T
"Whoooooo! TKO! Chicken Lou's! NU all day! Marino all day!" - swole status outside TD Garden
