Iris and I made an attempt to take advantage of the offer in Marino, ending today, of a 10-cent return on cans and bottles. After inserting about 5 cans, the machine froze and went to a login screen. None of the Marino employees knew the password to start it back up, and calling the number on the machine only allowed us to put in a work order. So there we were, stuck with 6 heavy bags of recyclables. After a bit of venting, we decided to head to Shaw's. Iris retrieved her little black grocery cart, and we headed for the Prudential location. Unfortunately, I was aware that the Fenway one has machines, but Iris didn't think to go there; neither of us knew that the machines had been taken out of the Prudential Shaw's. Luckily, they were able to take up to 120 cans (state law) at register 10, though we had to count them out one by one. Afterward, I had a tired dinner with Sabs, and went for a 20-minute lap around the Fens much later.
