Your Heroes Have Fallen
The Rangers lost game 5 to the Kings, ending my hopes of a 20th-anniversary cup win. Highlight: Brian Boyle crossing up Doughty and sniping Quick for a shorthanded goal. ("He shouldn't have been able to do that!") I left Peter's, went home and downed three shots in a row, but my crummy luck prevented me from effectively getting drunk. Sean kept me company and we tried to play a drinking game to Jet Li's Hero; while an entertaining film to be sure, it has very few discrete events and is therefore totally unsuited for games. Hero strives against realism; it does away with physics and probability so quickly that the viewer is unconcerned with them. One is free to enjoy the majestically choreographed and oddly peaceful battle scenes, and the end result is something like an art film.
