Purple People Eaters

Today, I overslept and missed a planned volunteer outing -- probably should have expected that. We had planned to see Walk the Moon for Stephanie's birthday, so she and Jennifer dropped in at NASA to chill out and smoke hookah first. We broke bread at Rod Dee 2, joined by some of Stephanie's friends (I was cautioned not to mention drinking, smoking or having fun) and then we were off for the House of Blues. Walk the Moon is not really my style of music, and being surrounded by screaming teenage girls underscored that, but they put on a spirited performance and the venue was rocking. We were up in the mezzanine, and once I gave up on trying to see the stage and just danced, the show was much more fun. A post-concert JP Licks run made everyone that much more satisfied, especially when Stephanie unloaded her unfinished ice cream on me.
Hockey section: The Maple Leafs fired basically everyone above the rank of janitor in their organization. The Bruins missed the playoffs, losing to the Lightning and seeing the bottom wild card spot go to the Penguins. The Senators Cinderella'd their way into a clinched playoff birth with a win over the Flyers. In the final day of the regular season, the Rangers defeated the Capitals again in a 4-2 win at the Verizon Center; Purple Hayes struck first, batting a rebound out of the air and past Holtby; Dom Moore (who is still the fucking man) also scored on a difficult, tight-angle backhand after forcing a turnover. We're playoffs bound!
